After almost 24 hours of traveling we have finally made it to Amsterdam.
We spent an 8 hour layover in Seattle yesterday where we got to see my mom, grandma, aunt, and brother. It was wonderful to get to visit and catch up with them. We ate lunch at the airport, took pictures and caught up. I was so happy that I got to see them even though it was just for a short period of time.
Our flight to Iceland was on time! We had concerns with Iceland mechanics on strike that our flight would be delayed, but it wasn't. The flight was okay but long. 7 1/2 hours and we were in the very back row by the bathrooms. That says enough right there. Cole didn't sleep at all on the plane but I was able to sleep some. We are not looking forward to flying home as the flight will be even longer. Cole was able to take some beautiful pictures though from when we first took off out of Seattle.
When we finally got to Iceland we felt like we stepped into IKEA world. The airport is very modern and beautiful. Although our connecting flight was supposed to be tight, due to the strike our flight was delayed this time. We had to spend 3 hours in the airport. This was nice because it gave us the opportunity to walk around and see things. They have a very nice airport. Tons of WOOL and amazing advertisements to read. We ate breakfast which included icelandic yogurt (Skyr) which is a mix between Greek yogurt and American yogurt. It has the flavor of American yogurt with the thickness of Greek yogurt. Included with breakfast was a hard boiled egg, fruit and a croissant which was absolutely buttery and divine.
Unfortunately my body didn't adjust well to the time change and I had a headache from the flight. I ended up throwing up right before we left for Amsterdam but now I feel MUCH butter. Another 4 hours of flying to Amsterdam and the food settled in my stomach. I also slept much better on the leg to Amsterdam. I awoke a new person once we arrived in Amsterdam. So...here we are. We took the train from the airport to Central Station and our flat is literally right in the heart of Amsterdam. Off we go to explore!
