We may not have it all together ... but together we have it all.

Saturday Market

We took Marcus to his first Saturday Market this weekend. This was exciting for me because ever since I was pregnant last summer it was something that I have been looking forward to. We headed out to meet Cole’s friend Tony and Cole’s Mom at the market. I took Marcus in the baby bjorn and bundled him up since it was just a little chilly.

We had a berry crepe with whipped cream from one of the vendors when we arrived. I love crepes and the Saturday Market is in my mind one of the epitomes of the best places to get crepes (besides France). Tony’s daughter Lexie helped me to devour it, she particularly enjoyed the whipped cream.

After we finished the crepe we wandered through the market. Marcus still enjoys the baby bjorn so much that he just falls asleep almost immediately when you put him in it, so he slept through the walk. Cole and I decided we wanted to support local and buy the fixings to make breakfast the next morning. So we bought leeks, goat cheese, and garlic chives at the market so that we could make quiche. We also bought a wonderful stuffed mushroom bread to have with our clam chowder for dinner.

Once we finished walking through the market we went with Tony to lunch at the Huddle downtown. The guys caught up (Tony just moved back from California) and watch the hockey playoffs. Marcus had finally woken up by this point so we played and talked with Lexie and Levi. It will be so neat when Marcus and Levi get a bit older so they can play together, it will be adorable. The day was perfect and exactly what I envisioned for my market experience with my little family. Pay close attention to the last picture in the post. Apparently going to the market wears out both of the boys. I came home from a baby consignment sale an hour after we got back from the market and this was how I found them together. In all fairness Mom was tired too, and carrying Marcus around in the baby bjorn is a workout right now! I was sore the next day.

From Marcus' Blog: More Pictures To Remember You...

Below are some of the pictures that I have taken of you during the month of April where you were two months old.

Below is a wonderful picture of your sweet little smile I love so much.

You were just so sweet sleeping here that I couldn't resist taking a picture.

These next two are to help us remember how bald you were compared to when you were born and had tons of hair! You have been told you look like your Great Uncle Dave, a Friar, and that you have male pattern baldness or a cul-de-sac on your head. All in complete affection, I assure you so don't develop a complex!

Another irresistibly sweet picture of you bundled up and sleeping.

This picture was taken on Earth Day when it was seriously almost 90 degrees out and we went out in the sun and needed a hat for you. The only one we had was your Greenbay hat that your Great Grandma Bev in Wisconsin got you, so we put it on you despite it being a little too big, but you looked so cute in it!

Rise Against - Date Night!

Cole and I haven't had a true date night since my birthday/Valentine's Day. We have managed to get out for a few hours here and there to go to a bar with friends and have graciously accepted the help of both sets of our parents to watch Marcus. So I really looked forward to our date night we had the other day.

Rise Against came to the Century Link Arena and Cole and I bought tickets for this concert before Marcus was born. Cole and I have listened to Rise Against since the beginning of our relationship so it was a pretty sweet concert for us. We went with Jake, Jessica, Matt and Tina.

First we went out to sushi for dinner at Yoitomo down in Bodo. They have all you can eat sushi and it was wonderful. The great thing about Yoitomo's all you can eat is it isn't just sushi. You can order their appetizers as part of the all you can eat menu too. There aren't too many sushi places that you can do this at. Since Cole and I hadn't been out in a while we did sake bombs together just the two of us. I was feeling pretty good after those needless to say!

After dinner it was off to the concert. A Day to Remember opened up before Rise Against. We all did have a moment of 'gosh we're really old' when someone in the group decided that we should be sitting in the seats of the arena instead of on the floor. Cole and I decided that would only last up until Rise Against played. Once they started we went down onto the floor and rocked out.

We did run into one of the waitresses from the Centurylink Arena that sees us all of the time at the hockey game. She was helping to serve alcohol for the concert. She came up to talk to us and offered us rail seats to the next night's hockey game and asked us how the wee baby Marcus was doing. It is so nice to be a 'regular' at a place like the hockey arena!

The night was wonderful, with lots of good songs to sing and rock out to. It felt for a fleeting moment like Cole and I were 21 again.  :o)  I know not THAT long ago!! Thanks to Nana Kay for watching Marcus for the evening.

From Marcus' Blog: Your First Easter

Well Easter was fairly low key this year since you are only two months old and thus have no idea what Easter is. However, that didn't stop the Easter Bunny from showering you with gifts.

We went out to brunch with your Nana and Grandpopper to La Vie en Rose.

After brunch we headed home and took a nap. I love the pic below of us snuggled up with Bailey asleep.

After nap time we headed over to Grandma and Grandpa's for a visit. Grandpa was working, but you got to spend time with Grandma and Great Grandma Casey as we ate pie for a mid afternoon snack.

Since we didn't get a good family picture during the day, we ended up taking a family self portrait when we got home.

After we got home you were in a playful mood. You played on your play mat which you currently love when you see yourself in the mirror. Later on I dressed you down to your diaper and you played with your new ball that you got for Easter. It is perfect since it has little holes for you to grip on to with your hands. One of the gifts you got for Easter was 'big kid' Legos. Your Dad was so excited about the space ship legos that he and Jake put it together. Apparently this present was more for you Dad right now than you!

Your Easter basket came with bunny ears, and although we didn't get a picture on Easter day, we didn't neglect getting one later in the week. You look absolutely adorable in them! Although it was low key, your first Easter was nice and I am so looking forward to next year where you will be able to toddle around and pick up eggs.

From Marcus' Blog: I Love You - A Week Of 'Sleep' Moments

I'm sitting here typing this as you lay in my arms asleep. A wave of sheer love and affection just washed over me as I looked down at your sweet sleeping face. You are already growing up way too fast. You are 10 weeks old right now.

This week you slept for 6 hours for the first time. I didn't know how to react! I woke up three times during that 6 hour period wondering why you weren't waking up. It was wonderful to be able to look over at you sleeping in the bassinet and be able to go back to sleep though. You also picked the perfect night to do this for the first time since I had a horrible headache on this night and was also feeling very nauseous. So thank you my dear boy for thinking of your mom.

The next night I was once again overflowing with love for you. At about 3 am you woke up to eat and as I started to lay you down in the bassinet after your feeding you woke up and looked up at me and gave me the biggest ear to ear grin. Then you closed your eyes again for a few seconds as if you were going to go back to sleep then you opened them again. You looked up at me one more time and grinned again, as if to say 'hi mom! Just checking to make sure you were still there!" It's moments like these that make me love being your mom.

On yet a different day I came home from work and you were so happy to see me. Jessica had been watching you and you were just sitting on the couch and the second I walked up to you I got another big ear to ear grin because you were so happy to see me home.

I have one more week with you where I don't have to work every day and I am going to cherish every last moment of it. Today we took a bath together. I plan on taking a nap with you, going on a walk outside, and spending time with your Dad and us as a little family. I love you Marcus.

Some Amateur Family Pictures

I wanted to get some pictures of our family and since we were out taking pictures of Jake and Jessica for their engagement, we thought it was a perfect time to get some pics of us.
