We took Marcus to his first Saturday Market this weekend.
This was exciting for me because ever since I was pregnant last summer it was
something that I have been looking forward to. We headed out to meet Cole’s
friend Tony and Cole’s Mom at the market. I took Marcus in the baby bjorn and
bundled him up since it was just a little chilly.
We had a berry crepe with whipped cream from one of the vendors
when we arrived. I love crepes and the Saturday Market is in my mind one of the
epitomes of the best places to get crepes (besides France). Tony’s daughter
Lexie helped me to devour it, she particularly enjoyed the whipped cream.
After we finished the crepe we wandered through the market.
Marcus still enjoys the baby bjorn so much that he just falls asleep almost
immediately when you put him in it, so he slept through the walk. Cole and I
decided we wanted to support local and buy the fixings to make breakfast the
next morning. So we bought leeks, goat cheese, and garlic chives at the market
so that we could make quiche. We also bought a wonderful stuffed mushroom bread
to have with our clam chowder for dinner.
Once we finished walking through the market we went with
Tony to lunch at the Huddle downtown. The guys caught up (Tony just moved back
from California) and watch the hockey playoffs. Marcus had finally woken up by
this point so we played and talked with Lexie and Levi. It will be so neat when
Marcus and Levi get a bit older so they can play together, it will be adorable.
The day was perfect and exactly what I envisioned for my market experience with
my little family. Pay close attention to the last picture in the post.
Apparently going to the market wears out both of the boys. I came home from a
baby consignment sale an hour after we got back from the market and this was
how I found them together. In all fairness Mom was tired too, and carrying
Marcus around in the baby bjorn is a workout right now! I was sore the next
day.
